The software engineer you can talk to.
For over three decades, I have delivered high-quality solutions for data-heavy applications. I have worked in every aspect of the software development and delivery cycle. Over the past year, I have witnessed the fundamental change AI has brought to my profession. For me, the most rewarding aspect of software engineering was entering a flow state for several hours while deep in code. That has largely been eliminated. I have decided to guide my career in a new direction.
My favorite job was creating and supporting accounting and medical-records software for rural hospitals throughout Oklahoma and Texas. I developed a fondness and respect for small businesses and small-business owners. I took great pride in simplifying workflows for understaffed offices with constrained budgets. I am excited to return to the work that has given me the greatest sense of purpose.
Through a series of adventures, my wife, son, daughter, and I found ourselves relocating to Dayton in the summer of 2023. I have grown to love Northern Nevada and want to establish roots here. I have a longer term vision to mentor young men and women who want to leverage technology to accelerate their personal and professional development.
Why this work
Practical technology, carefully applied.
Despite eliminating my favorite aspect of software engineering, I cannot deny the massive improvement and potential AI offers. There is a large gap between how frontier labs use AI and what the average small business is using. I would like to help close that gap.
Whether we like it or not, AI will continue to change how we interact with technology. Rather than complaining about it or ignoring it, let's learn this tool properly. We can work together to find a safe, practical way to use it for our benefit.
